Achtung! Yarnstorming Berlin for our brand new book!

Want to wander through Knit the City’s woolly world while you’re still in your PJs, on the commute to the office, under zombie attack, or when you’re meant to be working, but can’t get online? Fear not! Knit the City has been squashed into a handy thing they call a book just for you. SQUEEEEEEEEE! A book! The sneaky stitching story of Knit the City, Knit the City –Maschenhaft Seltsames, has been lovingly poured onto 128 pages, through the weaving of words and snapping of pictures of Deadly Knitshade. The book also features Ms Knitshade’s solo Whodunnknit knitblasts, and a knitting pattern for the infamous Finger-fighting Stitched Squid (squidius knittius) captured in London’s Natural History Museum. Showcasing the woolly work of Deadly Knitshade, Knitting Ninja, Lady Loop, Shorn-a the Dead, The Fastener, and other past Yarn Corps sneaky stitchers who have since been eaten by yarn monsters, it’s a hoard of handmade happiness with a filthy underbelly and several ticklish bits. Hang on! It’s all in German!??! The book is currently only available in German (click here for book information in German) by publishing lovelies Hoffmann und Campe. There’ll be a UK version along very very soon, so watch this space… To celebrate sneaky stitching in print the Yarn Corps are flying to Berlin this very weekend for some yarnstorming goodness. Anyone in Berlin can join Deadly, Shorn-a, Lady Loop and a small crocheted version of The Fastener (who will remain in the UK working on her most fabulous creation) for our first ever yarnstorm on foreign shores and a yarn-flavoured signing of our new book. Yarn Corps Uncovered: The Magknitficent Seven – The Fastener

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into London something unexpected happens in the world of Knit the City. Like the writhing many-headed mass of a handmade hydra that we are, we have grown another yarnstorming limb. The sneaky stitching six become a magknitficent seven. The Fastener What is your theme tune? The A team Which superhero’s powers would you most like and why? To be able to borrow others powers at will – why? Because that’s the best one! What is your biggest fear? Camel toe Your three stranded on a desert island yarnstorming essentials? Other than yarn (obviously!) Sunglasses (to disguise me – I know it’s deserted but you never know?!), music to knit by, lemon meringue pie – there’re no ovens on a deserted island, people! If you died during a yarnstorm what epitaph would you have on your gravestone? She finally zipped it. Stalk The Fastener here. Now we can get on with the real reason we’re all here. There’s a yarnstorm coming in just over 24 hours and there is absolutely nothing in the whole of London that can stop it…  ...

Yarn Corps Uncovered Part Three: Lady Loop and Knitting Ninja

We don’t know about you but we’re pretty sure that the yarnstorm is going to hit any day now. And it’s a dark dark yarnstorm at that. You can tell by the way the sun disappears earlier these past few nights. Almost like it’s running away… While we wait we’ll entice a couple more of the Knit the City Yarn Corps from the secret wool-lined bunker to cough up the answers to a few well-placed questions. Gliding from the darkness we find ourselves in the company of the bringer of aristocratic artiness and high-class handmade loveliness that is Lady Loop and the opener of a 400-year-old can of ancient Japanse yarnstorming whupass that is Knitting Ninja.   What is your biggest fear? …….. Your three stranded on a desert island yarnstorming essentials? …….. If you died during a yarnstorm what epitaph would you have on your gravestone?...
