Want to wander through Knit the City’s woolly world while you’re still in your PJs, on the commute to the office, under zombie attack, or when you’re meant to be working, but can’t get online? Fear not! Knit the City has been squashed into a handy thing they call a book just for you.

KNIT THE CITY: a whodunnknit set in London by Deadly Knitshade

Prepare to meet your friendly neighbourhood guerrilla knitters, whose prime objective is to enliven the dull city streets with a riot of colour – one stitch at a time.

These creative knitting ninjas transformed a ballerina outside the Royal Opera House with their woolly works of art and installed a 13-ft spider’s web, replete with trapped insects and fairies, in a tunnel beneath Waterloo station.

These photographs of their kooky public knitting feats will ensure you never see knitting – or London – the same way again. Deadly Knitshade is the founding member of London’s Knit the City graffiti knitting group.

The book includes two knitting patterns so you can yarnstorm too. Find out more about the author, Deadly Knitshade, over at Whodunnknit.

RRP. £9.99 published in hardback by Summersdale

KNIT THE CITY: maschenhaft seltsames

It’s in German too?! The  book is also available in German with a few different projects and pictures.

The sneaky stitching story of Knit the City has been lovingly poured onto 128 pages, through the weaving of words and snapping of pictures of Deadly Knitshade. The book also features Ms Knitshade’s solo Whodunnknit knitblasts, and a knitting pattern for the infamous Finger-fighting Stitched Squid (squidius knittius) captured in London’s Natural History Museum.

Showcasing the woolly work of Deadly Knitshade, Knitting Ninja, Lady Loop, Shorn-a the Dead, The Fastener, and other sneaky stitchers who have since been eaten by yarn monsters, it’s a hoard of handmade happiness with a filthy underbelly and several ticklish bits.
